The Snoqualmie Valley Schools Foundation Grant Program was developed to foster innovative approaches in education and
to spark student creativity and motivation to learn. The Foundation awards grant monies to teachers who
provide creative and innovative learning opportunities for students across our district. Applications are accepted in early October each year so that classrooms benefit from the funding that school year.
The total funded this year has been $17,712.
Light & Atoms through photosynthesis: Students will study basic laws guiding atomic behavior and light energy with these Light and Optics lab modules.
Green Globs Graphing Program: The green globs graphing program gives students an interactive experience to enhance their graphing skills.
Guided Non-fiction reading program: Instructional resource and materials to build comprehension and vocabulary skills to become strategic independent readers.
Celestron CPC1100 XLT Telescope: A telescope giving astronomy and physics students the ability to view night sky objects in a hands-on way that was previously unavailable.
All About Stuttering Help for students who stutter is available from SVSD speech-language therapists who will utilize this workbox and materials.
Graphing Calculators: Providing technology for the exploration of Mathematical functions and concepts using graphing calculators.
CSI Snoqualmie: This hands-on lab will provide in-depth explanations about how restriction enzymes cut DNA and how electrophoresis is used to separate and visualize DNA Fragments.
Concrete Geometry: Math manipulative tools to help students form a solid concrete foundation of the difficult abstract geometry concepts such as the pythagorean theorem, trigonometry area of triangles, volume of prisms, etc.
Music Library Development Help to purchase sheet music for large ensembles, small groups, and soloists as well as warm up and technique books.
Educational board games for differentiating instruction: Board games to help students learn and practice their German language skills.
Balance and Motion Workshop: Students put the principles of gravity and force to use while constructing wooden toys at this workshop.
Drums and Xylos: The music department will benefit from the purchase of drums and xylophones decreasing the ratio of students per instrument to 2.
Variables Toy Workshop: Students learn mathematic and scientific concepts in this hands on workshop.
Rosetta Stone for English Learners: Licenses and training for ELL instructors and students.
